La Belle Caille de Blé SPRL has opened a store in the scenic area of "La Verrerie", in the Botte du Hainaut.

A bit of history:
"La Verrerie" is made up of three buildings: the main residence and two others used for production. Around 1830, the estate was owned by the Count de Pins, who also owned part of the Fagne region.
In 1841, the glassworks exhibited its products at the Belgian Industry Exhibition in Brussels.
In 1846, the glassworks was sold at a public auction in Beaumont, and production came to a complete stop. However, the house and land remained the property of the de Pins family.
Later, the residence became home to the Devergnies family. Augustin Devergnies was a forest ranger for the de Pins properties.
Around 1900, the site – still known as “La Verrerie” – became a prominent hunting lodge for Prince Philippe de Caraman-Beaumont, where gamekeepers were housed.
Several families have lived there since then.
Thus ends the chapter of this once-thriving Rance-based industry.
Some objects from the Rance glassworks are now displayed at the Glass Museum of Charleroi – well worth a visit if this story intrigued you!
